What’s really troubling to me is how the “Other” people are just sitting there all nonchalant. (Google Map Image) LAGUNA BEACH, CA The Montage Laguna Beach hotel issued an apology to a Black family that posted Facebook video of an apparently white employee in conflict with family. What manager of any business says that? He asked his assistant manager to go get security for us and demanded that we leave. We spoke to him calmly and he was talking loudly saying he responds to his guest how they respond to him. Timothy continued to unprofessionally escalate the situation. As of 2022, it operates 14 properties in the United States and Mexico, with seven of those properties under the Montage Hotels and Resorts brand and seven under its Pendry Hotels and Resorts brand. Our whole group was African American to be very clear. Montage International (or Montage Hotels) is a luxury hotel and resort management company founded by Alan Fuerstman and based in Irvine, California. So we asked Timothy the logic in this madness? He then was very rude and aggressive in his tone when we wanted an explanation as to why “we had to sit outside” when a few feet away from us inside people were enjoying food and drinks? I was clear cut discrimination. There is a white couple eating inside, so there are zero reasons why the black family shouldn’t be allowed to eat inside. Several people were also walking into the place wearing no masks. The manager on duty Timothy told our party we would have to sit outside. The outside area had zero umbrellas for shade. He’s been working there for well over a decade and is front desk Manager on Duty which is a pretty high up position, and after him it would be security that is called which is last line of. We ordered drinks as soon as we arrived and requested to be seated inside. Tim Ward is not the first line of defense for that sort of thing either, as he’s far from a minimum wage employee like the top commenter suggests.
